I have personally been working with Chuck for well over a year now, and he is a genius at
his craft. He will let you know if a mic is just not fixable due
to a broken winding or some other problem. Otherwise, Chuck can get
get more output and tone from an almost good mic. He has brought back some from the dead for me, and is very reasonable in his pricing for the amount of time he spends on
them. The element comes back with fresh leads ready to solder on. I literally have owned thousands of CR/CM mics and have
come to respect Chuck for being able to
rescue some that otherwise would have been in the trash.
And just to lay something to rest that has been a myth for so long--the ohms reading of the mic
means nothing. Just because it may read 1.28K doesn't mean it
will have full output and bottom end. I have some super hot ones
at 1.05K. There are a lot of factors that could be interfering
with it being a good strong bottom-end mic. You have the Sonny Jr.
promise that Chuck is a straight-up guy to deal with.
